The latest data from the American Cancer Society forecasts an increase in skin cancer cases for 2025, with both new cases and associated deaths from melanoma and non-epithelial skin cancers expected to rise. This continues the trend of new invasive melanoma cases diagnosed annually, which has increased by 42% over the past decade.
Men continue to be particularly vulnerable, accounting for 58% of new cases and 68% of projected deaths related to skin cancer this year. While more diagnoses can indicate that early detection rates are improving, the rise in mortality tells us we’re still diagnosing many cancers too late.
Prevention, education, and early detection are the greatest tools to protect ourselves and our loved ones from skin cancer.
