What it treats: Medical Microneedling can be used for a wide variety of conditions: scarring, pigmentation, wrinkles, stretch marks, poor skin tone, large pores, sun damage, precancerous lesions, rosacea, thinned skin, oily skin, prematurely aged skin, and more.
Recovery Time/Results
Downtime for microneedling is minimal, with little to light shedding of the older skin noted a few days after the procedure. Side effects from add-on treatments vary, with chemical peel agents causing 1-2 weeks of heavier peeling, filler or PRF sometimes causing mild bruising, and neurotoxin generally taking 3-5 days to show effectiveness.
How often should I do this?
Medical Microneedling treatments are most effective when done in series- this “trains” the skin to respond more efficiently to the signals given, and sets the rejuvenation cascade in motion. At SkinHappy, we generally recommend a series of 3-6 sessions, separated by 1-4 weeks.
Bottom line:
Medical Microneedling is markedly more effective -yet has better safety and downtime- than more invasive treatment such as laser and chemical peel treatments.
